Where is the best institute for UGC NET/ SET? | Is there any need of coaching for the UGC NET?

Hello friends, in this post i am going to clear your some pitfalls whether you really need a coaching  institute for the UGC NET preparation.

First of all let me clear you. The UGC NET is much prestigious exam for the job of Assistant Professor in Higher Education and at this age you are elder enough to teach yourself.

According to my experience, it is the wastage of time if you choose any institute for your preparation. The Institute will help you only for the syllabus, exam patterns, books related, etc. Moreover they don’t have Instructor who has Cleared the NET Exam. You should start your preparation yourself without thinking much. There is a problem at the starting when you appear for the first time. Because at the first time, you don't know the syllabus either and many other things that you need to know before appearing for the exam.

If you really think that you have enough time and money for coaching. And also conform about the institute, and about the staff of Institue. After confirming all these things, you can join. If you feal dearth of any of these things, don’t join the institue.

Instead of going for any institute, it is better to start teaching in colleges, schools or universities. Because here you will get a lot of time for your preparation. And you will not feel any pressure. The students who desires to appear for the UGC NET exam has cleared his master or in the final year. At this stage, he can't waste his time by joining any institute.

So in this post, i will help you how you have to do preparation and other strategies to clear this exam.

How to clear the UGC NET exam in first attempt? | How to score 80+ marks in first paper?

UGC NET (National Eligibility Test) is an eligibility test for the post of Assistant Professor in the colleges and Universities. It is conducted by NTA (National Testing Agency) twice a year.
The test is conducted for every subject. You can check all those subjects on the UGC or NTA website.

How to qualify the UGC NET

What is the difficulty  level of the UGC NET?
The NET exam is just moderate level, means somewhere between easy and difficult. When i first time appeared for this exam, it seemed me difficult because at that time i didn't follow any strategy. After making a strategy, i qualified the exam in Computer Science. Below i have shared the proper strategy.

Actually, the conducting agency selects top 6 percents of appeared candidates for every subject and make them qualified for the exam. From this policy, you can make a guess for the difficulty level of the exam. However, there are some flexibilities for the reserved category candidates.

How deep the preparation is required for clearing the UGC NET?
If i talk about an average student just like me who do not serious while doing post graduation, you required around 3 months (3 hours per day) of preparation for qualifying the exam.

How many papers are there in NET?
There are two papers in the NET exam.

First paper consisting of 50 questions (100 marks) which is same for every candidate. The time duration for the first paper is 1 hour.

Second paper which is subjective consisting of 100 questions (200 marks). The time duration for the second paper is 2 hours.

What is the strategy required for clearing the NET exam?
As i have described there are two papers in this exam. The first paper (general paper) which is same for every candidate. Most of the students focus on the second paper because they think that this is their concerned subject and start inculcating for it.

First thing that everybody should follow is always start your preparation from the first paper. The first paper is very easy, but it requires just coverage of the syllabus. If you get more than 80 marks in the first paper, you can qualify the exam in spite of poor preparation for the second paper. Because the cut off mostly goes around 55 percent. Lets make a rough calculation below, there is no negative marking in the exam.

Suppose you get 80 marks in the first paper.
And if you don't study for the second paper thoroughly,  out of 100 question, you might know the answers of 20 questions. Marks for this 20 question are 40 marks. Now the rest 80 questions of second papers for whose you don't know the answers, if you mark the answers blindly, there is a probability to get 20 questions correct. Marks for this 20 question are 40 marks.

Total collected marks= 80 (first paper) + 40 (second paper) + 40 (second paper) = 160.

And the cut-offs goes around 160 for Assistant Professor and around 185 for JRF. My main motive to tell in this regard is to telling the importance of first paper.

How to get more than 80 marks in the first paper?
I will tell you in 4 steps to secure 85+ marks in the first paper of UGC NET Exam. If you get more than 80 marks, definitely you will be able to clear the NET exam. So it is very important to put more focus on the first paper before doing the preparation for second exam.

When I appeared in the NET exam for the first time, I got only 40 marks and pretty do well in the second paper. Because, at time there was no strategy for the first paper. After applying the following steps, I got 82 marks in the first paper and clear the UGC NET EXAM IN COMPUTER SCIENCE AND APPLICATION.
Total time needed to prepare well for the first paper is less than 10 days.
Paper I consists of the following sections and there are 5 questions from each section.
  • Teaching aptitude.
  • Research Aptitude
  • Reading Comprehension
  • Communication
  • Logical Reasoning
  • Math Reasoning
  • Data Intepretation
  • Information and Communication technology (ICT)
  • People and Environment
  • Higher Education system, Government and Politics

4 Steps:
Prerequisite things that you need to have: a pen, a big notebook (give different space for different chapters), a single First Paper book (no need to purchase more than one book), and a hard copy of the syllabus for the first paper.
"syllabus + Notebook +  UGC NET Book"
The link of the syllabus is: Syllabus

1. First step is to purchase book:
When i studied, i purchased the book. This book is best. There is no need to purchase any other book. I am again saying, this book is enough. For purchasing it online from the Amazon, Here below i have also provided the link.
2. Try to learn the concept on the Internet:
After checking the syllabus for first chapter, and search each term on the Google. For example, there is a topic “What is teaching”. Put exactly this term on the Google and write the description on your notebook for the brief overview. You can also try YouTube. There are 10 chapters on the syllabus for the first paper. And you have to study only 6  chapters (Teaching Aptitude, Research Aptitude, Communication, ICT, People and Environment, Higher education System: Governance, Polity and Administration). These 6 chapters are new to us. They will take a little time to grasp. The others are too easy, no need to study even once. Six topics that you have to prepare for are as: TEACHING APTITUDE, RESEARCH APTITUDE,COMMUNICATION, ICT, PEOPLE AND ENVIRONMENT,HIGHER EDUCATION

3. Read book:
Now it is the time to study book. Start reading the book from the start to end. Only read these 6 chapters. Books are difficult to read so it is important to firstly perform the second step. While reading the book, do underline the important stuffs and if possible write on the notebook. It will help you at the revision time. Because at the revision time, you are not supposed to invest more time.

4. Try previous years’ papers: Now the time to read previous years papers. You have to read all the papers from 2004 to 2017. It will not take more than a week. The trick to read the paper is like: start the paper from the first question, if you are able to solve this question then continue to the next  question and so on. If you are not able to solve any question, try it on the google and write the summary on the notebook. Skip the questions of passages, etc.
Try to explore the current affairs. You can read the current affairs on higher education, environment etc.
Cool: The preparation for the first paper is all over.
Revision: The next step is to revise all again. Remember you only have to revise the notebook and the book.
Below are some terms provided. If you are familiar with these terms after preparation. Your preparation is done. The following terms are the alternates for the syllabus. Every question which is asked is related to the following terms:
